During an unexpected emergency, the life and death of an injured employee may depend on proper First Aid given within the first few minutes of the incident. First Aid treatment is critical in preventing further injuries and pain to the victim before the arrival of medical professionals.
Despite Singapore’s reliable transport system, world-class hospitals and huge population, an Emergency Ambulance may take about 10 minutes or more, to respond to your location – too late to save the Brain which may be permanently damaged within 4 to 6 minutes without sufficient oxygenated blood circulation. However, having a First Aider in your workplace can increase the success rate if he/she can take action while waiting for the Ambulance to arrive.
Currently, under the Workplace Safety and Health Act, any company with more than 25 employees, must have at least ONE First Aider for every 100 employees. Any workplace with more than 500 employees are required to have a First Aid room within the premises.
Certificate will be valid for 24 months.
